Gelecta supplied all plastic and metal mechanical components for iCare’s tonometer project, together with the associated manufacturing tooling, as one coordinated solution. The delivery involved multiple materials, manufacturing technologies and suppliers, with Gelecta taking responsibility for their coordination, quality assurance and deliveries.
Production of the tonometer shown in the image began more than 15 years ago, and our cooperation with iCare continues today. This long-term partnership demonstrates our ability to supply components for demanding health technology products with consistent quality and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.
In medical devices, dimensional accuracy, surface quality and component compatibility are critical. Gelecta’s centralised delivery model allows customers to source all mechanical components from a single experienced partner. This simplifies procurement, reduces the project management workload and ensures seamless compatibility between components manufactured using different production technologies.
The Finnish rebound tonometry technology behind iCare tonometers was developed in the 1990s. The first tonometer using iCare technology was introduced to the market in 2003. Today, the iCare product portfolio includes not only intraocular pressure measurement devices but also fundus imaging, visual field testing and clinical software solutions. iCare Finland Oy is part of the Revenio Group, which specialises in ophthalmic diagnostics.
