From Design to Physical Model
We manufacture full-scale mock-ups for vehicles, heavy machinery and industrial products, as well as individual components, based on the customer’s design and CAD data.

Full-Scale Mock-Ups
A full-scale mock-up makes a design visible, tangible and ready for evaluation before the final product is manufactured.
We manufacture, for example, cab mock-ups for vehicles and heavy machinery for concept visualisation, ergonomic evaluation, user testing, customer presentations, exhibitions and trade fairs.
A mock-up may include windows, mirrors, a seat, steering wheel, controls, buttons, displays and finished interior surfaces. Where required, components can also be made mechanically functional for evaluating the user experience and ergonomics.
Typical Lead Time
When the 3D data is largely complete, a full-scale cab mock-up can typically be completed in approximately 6–8 weeks.
Lead time depends particularly on the readiness of the design data, the size of the model, the required level of finishing and the number of functional components. The overall project schedule also takes account of the transport method selected according to the customer’s requirements, such as air, rail or sea freight.
Multiple Materials and Manufacturing Methods
A full-scale mock-up is usually built using a combination of several manufacturing methods.
The project may include, for example:
- CNC-machined components
- steel and aluminium structures
- ABS and epoxy parts
- sheet and composite structures
- 3D-printed details
- transparent surfaces
- upholstered interior components
- painting and other visual finishing
The manufacturing approach is determined by the intended use, required accuracy, appearance, functionality and project schedule.
Proven Experience in Full-Scale Vehicle Models
Our manufacturing partners have more than 20 years of experience in producing full-scale vehicle and machinery models. They have completed over 100 vehicle models and more than 1,000 prototype and low-volume production projects for international customers. In each customer project, Gelecta is responsible for manufacturing coordination, technical communication, quality assurance and delivery.
Confidential Project Execution
Mock-ups are produced in cooperation with our established manufacturing partners. Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) are in place between Gelecta and the manufacturing partners involved in each project. Customer drawings, 3D models and other project materials are shared in a controlled manner only with the parties directly involved in the project.
Physical production can be carried out in separate, closed model studios, where projects for different customers are kept strictly separate.
Individual Machinery Components
Not every project requires a complete mock-up. We also manufacture individual components for machinery and equipment, including lighting housings and lenses, enclosures, panels, grilles, control-panel housings and buttons.
A component can be produced as a visual model, a functional prototype or a finished part suitable for end use. For a lighting assembly, for example, we can manufacture a painted die-cast housing, a transparent or optically precise lens, mounting features and the required internal components. For control panels, we can manufacture the housing, mechanical buttons and other structural components of the control interface.
The solution is tailored to the component’s intended use, required level of finishing and production quantity.

We work with design agencies, product development teams and manufacturing companies.
The customer provides the design data and defines the intended use of the model. Gelecta takes care of manufacturing the physical assembly, integrating the individual parts, finishing and delivering the completed model.
Even when the project requires multiple materials, manufacturing methods and specialist suppliers, the customer works through a single point of contact. Gelecta coordinates manufacturing, quality assurance, assembly and logistics into one complete solution.
