Production-Ready Components and Mechanical Assemblies
Finished plastic and metal components—with surface treatments, inserts, markings, mechanical assembly, inspection and customer-specific packaging—delivered through one coordinated supply chain.
Gelecta can manage more than the manufacture of individual parts. We coordinate component production, finishing, secondary operations, mechanical assembly, quality assurance and logistics so that components arrive ready for the customer’s next production or assembly stage.
Our service is adapted to the requirements of each project. The delivery can range from a finished individual component to an assembly-ready component set or a mechanical sub-assembly combining parts made from different materials and using different manufacturing technologies.
More than individual manufactured parts
Producing a component is often only one step in the complete delivery. Before the part can enter the customer’s production process, it may require surface treatment, inserts, markings, purchased components, inspection, assembly and protective packaging.
When these stages are sourced separately, the customer must manage several suppliers, purchase orders, transports, schedules and quality interfaces. Gelecta can coordinate the required operations as one managed delivery.
Depending on the project, the service can include:
- plastic and metal components manufactured using several production technologies
- painting, coating and other surface treatments
- threaded inserts, bushings, magnets, fasteners and other added parts
- printing, laser marking, labels and adhesive markings
- mechanical sub-assembly
- complementary user-interface components or cable harnesses
- dimensional inspection and project-specific reporting
- agreed functional tests and preliminary fit checks
- customer samples for compatibility and assembly approval
- customer samples for compatibility and assembly approval
- batch identification and customer-specific packaging
- coordinated logistics and recurring deliveries
The scope is defined according to how far the customer wants the component or assembly prepared before it reaches their own production.
Components finished for their intended use
Plastic and metal components can be supplied with the surface quality, appearance, protection and identification required for their application. The suitable finishing route depends on the base material, component geometry, operating environment and visual requirements.
Project-specific options can include:
- painting and colour matching
- decorative and protective coatings
- anodising, plating and passivation
- defined colour, gloss and surface texture
- pad printing, screen printing and other printed markings
- laser marking, product codes and serial identification
- labels and adhesive markings
- threaded inserts, bushings and other installed hardware
- post-machining and other secondary operations
Visible surfaces, colour references, permissible process marks and acceptance criteria should be agreed before production. Where appearance is critical, an approved sample can be used as a practical reference for production inspection.
By coordinating manufacture and finishing within the same delivery, Gelecta helps reduce unnecessary transfers between suppliers and ensures that technical and visual requirements are considered as part of one production plan.
Complementary specialised components
Although Gelecta does not provide general electronics manufacturing, selected specialist partners can supply complementary components required in mechanical product assemblies. These can include mechanical user-interface panels, keypads and high-specification cable harnesses.
Such components are included only where they support the agreed delivery and where the selected partner can meet the project’s technical, quality and documentation requirements. Their integration, inspection and traceability are defined project by project.
Mechanical sub-assemblies from plastic and metal components
Gelecta primarily supplies mechanical sub-assemblies rather than electronic assemblies. Plastic and metal components manufactured using different technologies can be combined with inserts, fasteners and other agreed parts before delivery.
Typical projects may include:
- housings assembled from several plastic or metal components
- covers, frames, brackets and internal mechanical structures
- components fitted with threaded inserts, bushings or magnets
- mechanical fastening using screws and other specified hardware
- customer-specific labels, seals and identification parts
- assemblies that combine injection-moulded, cast, machined or otherwise manufactured components
Assembly instructions, component revisions, fastening requirements and acceptance criteria are agreed with the customer. The assembly scope can be adapted from a simple installed insert or attached label to a more complete mechanical sub-assembly.
Mechanical assemblies or assembly-ready component sets
The most suitable delivery format depends on the customer’s own production model.
Mechanical sub-assemblies
The agreed components are mechanically joined and supplied as a defined sub-assembly. This can reduce the number of individual parts and work stages handled at the customer’s facility.
Assembly-ready component sets
If the customer prefers to complete the assembly, the required parts can be collected, identified and packed as a product- or work-stage-specific component set. A set may include, for example, housing parts, inserts, fasteners, labels, a keypad or an agreed cable harness.
Component sets can simplify material handling, reduce picking work and help ensure that the correct parts and revisions are available together at the customer’s assembly stage.
Gelecta can also supply finished individual components when assembly or kitting does not provide additional value.
Inspection, testing and customer approval
Quality assurance begins with the customer’s specifications and the requirements agreed for the delivery. Components are inspected against the applicable dimensional, visual and quality criteria, and inspection reports are prepared according to the customer’s requirements.
Depending on the project, the inspection and approval process can include:
- dimensional inspection of critical characteristics
- material and surface-treatment documentation
- visual inspection of colour, gloss, texture and markings
- verification of installed inserts, labels and other added parts
- inspection of assembly content and workmanship
- agreed functional tests at the customer's request
- preliminary fit and compatibility checks where suitable reference parts or fixtures are available
- sample approval before recurring production deliveries
- batch-specific identification and reporting
In most projects, physical samples are sent to the customer for final compatibility, fit and assembly evaluation within the complete product. The customer knows the complete product and its operation best and therefore provides the final approval before recurring deliveries begin.
The inspection scope, test method, sample quantity, acceptance criteria and approval process are agreed for each project. Gelecta does not assume that a dimensional report alone proves the performance of a component in the customer’s complete product.
One coordinated route to finished components
Finished-component projects may combine several materials, manufacturing technologies, specialist suppliers and secondary operations. Gelecta coordinates these stages as one managed delivery.
Our role can include:
- coordinating component production, purchased parts and finishing operations
- aligning specifications and approved revisions across suppliers
- planning the sequence of finishing, inspection and mechanical assembly
- managing agreed customer samples and quality documentation
- consolidating components for packaging, freight and recurring deliveries.
This gives the customer one point of contact for the agreed component package. It reduces the need to coordinate several suppliers separately and helps manage the compatibility, schedule and quality interfaces between components manufactured through different processes.
When production takes place in China, Gelecta’s own sourcing manager supports supplier communication, production follow-up and local quality assurance close to the manufacturing partners.
Identification, traceability and customer-specific packaging
Finished components, mechanical assemblies and component sets can be prepared for the customer’s production and logistics processes with the agreed identification and packaging.
Depending on the project, this may include:
- product labels and adhesive markings
- part numbers, serial numbers or batch numbers
- barcodes, QR codes or other agreed machine-readable identification
- component- or assembly-specific packing lists
- protective packaging for cosmetic or sensitive surfaces
- product- or assembly-stage-specific component sets
- customer-specific labels and packaging formats
- agreed batch separation and traceability documentation
Packaging requirements are considered together with the component geometry, surface quality, transport conditions and handling at the destination. The objective is to deliver the components in the correct condition and format for the customer’s next production, assembly or logistics stage.
From component data to a production-ready delivery
1. Requirements and delivery-scope review
We review the customer-supplied CAD data, drawings, bill of materials and requirements for manufacturing, finishing, assembly, testing, identification, packaging and delivery. The responsibility of each party and the required approval stages are defined at the beginning of the project.
